The &Open platform sends gifting activity back to Salesforce for easy access on Contact screens. Real-time updates occur when important events happen, such as when a recipient chooses their gift or when it is delivered.

The most recent gift sent to a recipient is always tracked, making it easy to determine if a recipient has ever received a gift from you and when that occurred. These fields can also be utilized for filtering data and incorporating into reporting dashboards.

How to add custom fields to Salesforce

To use the &Open gifting platform in Salesforce, custom fields must be added to store the information. Custom fields can be added alongside standard fields such as name, email, and company name. To add custom fields, you will need "Customize Application" permission in Salesforce. This can be implemented in either Salesforce Classic or the Salesforce Lightning Experience.

To begin, we must set up six custom fields of various types: gift status, gift name, most recent gift sent at, name of most recent gift, and a link to the recipient page where they can select their gift and check on its progress.

When you're finished, you should see your new field in the list:

And once a gift is sent to one of your contacts, you'll see this information start to appear on their profile.
